Mother's Day Gifts

We finished our Mother's Day gifts this week and I must say they turned out lovely!  The kids had a great time coming up with a "wordle" that described their mom and creating their canvases. Some students also made tissue paper flowers that they added to the outside after we wrapped them up.  I would definitely do this one again next year!

To make these you will need:
8 X 10 canvas frame (from the dollar store)
tissue paper
"ModPodge"  (one large jar was enough for a class of 30 students to share)

The first step is to create "Wordle".  The kids love this program since they get to plug in the text and then it rearranges it into different fonts and shapes.  After printing, trim the paper to fit the canvas.

The second step, paint the canvas with ModPodge and carefully lay the trimmed paper on the canvas. ModPodge over this as well in order to seal it. Try to get as many air bubbles out as you can so they don't dry as wrinkles.

The last step is to cut out tissue paper hearts to lay on top.  Then (you guessed it) ModPodge over that too.
